The Saudi physical therapy association is one of the scientific sub-associations of King Saud University which aims at developing and promoting scientific thinking for the physiotherapists working in this field, facilitating the exchange process of scientific ideas, also providing consultancy and studies necessary to promote this profession side by side with different governmental establishments and organizations. The association seeks to achieve its goals through encouraging scientific research, publishing their results and distributing them to different organizations as well as making contribution with other medical specializations to promote health awareness for community individuals and within families, the association also seeks to hold conferences, seminars and workshops for both physiotherapists and consultants in physical therapy to discuss all the updates in the area of medical rehabilitation.

Definition of Membership:

Membership is being belonged to the association in order to benefit from its activities and programs as well as making contributions to it and sticking to its systems and regulations. And as a result, the association is looking forward to motivating care for physical therapy and attracting qualified individuals who are capable of giving in this field which in turn contributes to promotion of the physical therapy profession in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Types of Membership:

Active Member

• The person asking for the membership should have bachelor degree in physical therapy.
• Has the priority to participate in association’s activities like courses, seminars and scientific meetings at reduced fees.
• Participates in the annual meeting which is held by the association for the members.
• Has the right to vote or be a candidate of association’s high board committee during the meeting after the end of previous board’s mandate period.
• Gets a membership in international physical therapy union.
• Gets a membership in Arabian physical therapy union.
• Gets the available publications of the association “books, research papers, studies & awareness publications”.
• Can participate and volunteer in awareness and community service campaigns.
• Can participate in the association’s social media channels and view its events.
• Has the priority to get membership benefits.
• Subscription fees: 200 Saudi Riyals for 1 years.

Affiliated Member:

• For interested and working individuals within the scope of the association who don’t have the scientific qualifications required for the active membership.
• Can participate in association’s activities like courses, seminars and scientific meetings at reduced fees.
• Gets the available publications of the association “books, research papers, studies & awareness publications”.
• Can participate and volunteer in awareness and community service campaigns.
• Can participate in the association’s social media channels and view its events.
• Gets membership benefits.
• Subscription fees: 150 Saudi Riyals for 1 years.

Free Member

• Gets the available publications of the association “books, research papers, studies & awareness publications”.
• Can participate and volunteer in awareness and community service campaigns.
• Can participate in the association’s social media channels and view its events.

Board Member:

• Has the priority to participate in association’s activities like courses, seminars and scientific meetings at reduced fees.
• Participates in the annual meeting which is held by the association for the members.
• Has the right to vote or be a candidate of association’s high board committee during the meeting after the end of previous board’s mandate period.

Membership conditions and procedures

Membership is three types:

Active membership is required:

1. Applicant must have a bachelor's degree in physical therapy or equivalent.
2. Applicant must be specialists in the field of physical therapy and health rehabilitation.
3. Applicant must be a resident of Saudi Arabia.
4. Payment of annual contributions.
5. The Governing Council putting the suitable conditions.
6. A decision by the Board of Directors to accept the request for active membership.

Honorary membership:

It shall be granted by a resolution of the General Assembly based on the nomination of the Board of Directors for those who contributed to the development of the areas of interest of the association or provided financial or moral services. The honorary member shall be exempted from the subscription payment condition. He may attend the meetings of the General Assembly and its various committees and participate in the discussions.

Enrollment Membership:

Enjoy it:

1. University students in the field of specialization.
2. Employees and interested in the association who do not meet the requirements of the scientific qualification of the working membership.

The associate member shall be exempt from 50% of the annual subscription value. He may attend the meetings of the General Assembly and its various committees and participate in the discussions without having the right to vote.

Termination of membership

Membership in the association shall terminate in the following cases:

• Withdrawal or death of the member.
• If the annual subscription is not paid after one year of entitlement.
• If it loses a condition of membership.
• If he performs any work or activity that results in causing harm to the association financially or morally, the membership shall not fall in this case except with the approval of the board of directors of the association.

Renew Membership

The Board of Directors may, by a decision of the Board of Directors, return the membership to the member who lost it at his request if the reasons for dropping the previous membership are removed.
